Went to Nadi Jodhidam last week with high exceptions. I always wanted to go through the process because Nadi Jodhidam was a much hyped thing within my circle, I hesitated to go and consult one on my own, because I felt I am too young to go a place like that but on fine day I was asked to go collect a reading from a Nadi jodhidam center for one my friend and that is how I decided that now I can consult one, myself.
As soon as I went in, i was asked give a right hand thumb finger impression, my friend who was curious told they guy who took the impression that we will come back after a while since it will take some time to confirm if my leaf is available with them, immediately the head of the center came and asked his junior that we are leaving, he explained but the boss was a bit upset, he told us to wait, so that he will check if they have the leaf is with them. After 15 minutes, the boss told us to come after an hour, he said the leaf related to my thump impression is with them and we can come in another one hour so that he will keep things read.
I was all excited thinking that my future and past will be unrelieved in the most exciting format, I always wanted this to happen to me!
We want after an hour but their boss was out and we were made to wait for almost half an hour, I was getting impatient and irritated and even asked my friend if we can leave and come tomorrow but it he was keen to check it up on that day.
After waiting for some more time and playing musical instruments in my friend smart phone the boss made and entry! he apologised for his delay and took us to another room, he went to room adjacent to the waiting room and brought in a set of huge old palm leaves which had something inscripted on them. The legend says that a saint over heard the fate of each and every individual in this planet discussed by the lord shiva and the saint made a print of it in palm leaves!!
He started by signing a phrase very loud, I was worried if my friend will break into laughter because he was my class mate and we both are highly "humor conscious" we laugh at almost everything and it bothered me a lot, soon he started to read the leaf and started asking me various questions like if I was born in a particular month, if I am in love with a girl, if my dad is married twice, our religion and things like that as soon as I say no to a question, he would read another leaf and ask questions, soon I started noticing something very tricky. In the first ten question he asked, it would give him a slim idea of who and what I am, for example, now he knows that I am not born in a particular set of months which he enquirerd, now he knows that my dad is no more and since I got a impatient by answering everything as negative, I made a blunder! I told him that I was born in a particular month and told him that I was born in the morning, after the complete set was over he told me that I have to cooperate with me since these leaves where written thousands of years ago and told us that we have to be patient to get the correct leaf.
He went into the same room and after 10 mins he came with another set of leaves and this time he was pretty close in predicting things and finally after many yes and no's he claimed that he got my leaf! he correctly told my dad's name which wasn't really surprising because, many times he asked me if my father's name starts with various Tamil sounds, that is when I realized its actually easy to guess names without really asking them because it was like he was discussing the name with me after asking about 10 questions about how my fathers first name will sound like and the same way, while he was predicting my mother's name my friend by mistake told him "yes, this is his mom's name" but actually it was not, to correct him, I in a hushing voice told my mother's name to him but I was very sure that THE BOSS easily over heard it, he din't act like he heard and kept predicting my mom's name by that time I understood that this stuff was completely staged, I lost all the interest in that moment and later he announced my mothers name correctly, the funnier part was this time my friend said "no, this is not his mother's name" soon I corrected him by saying that, it was correct. He boosted himself by saying, see even your friend don't know your mom's name I was able to correctly get her name, he later claimed that I was born on a Sunday or Monday, I told him that I was born on a Wednesday. He openly challenged me to ask my mom if I was born on a Wednesday I assured that I was born on a Monday or Sunday and defiantly not on a Tuesday. When I called my mom she double check the exact day to my surprise it was a Monday! he had a lethargic smile on his face and my friend till then who laughing at the way things where going was shell shocked! I was shocked but found many things fishy, Though I had no clue how he predicted the exact day. Soon he boosted himself of how great and precise the leaves are, he said even your friend is not sure of your mom's name but the leaves knows, but I was very sure that he had easily over heard my mom name while I was correcting my friend but I had no clue of how he knew the exact day, he asked us to go to a temple and come after half and hour and before that to place the fees in front of a deity's photo in the room.
I and my friend were discussing how he would got the exact date and my friend was in complete disbelief! shell shocked and stunned, he was repeatedly asking me "how can this be possible" "this is amazing" unbelievable!
Suddenly, I realized that if he knows my date of birth, which I happened to say to him in frustration, he can easily predict the exact date by looking at a calendar in his room, where h twice went to take a new set of leaves! that's it! I knew that I have cracked their game.
This is nothing by a TV show that was successfully hosted in regional channels in the name of "Grand master" where the host asks a set of questions and he identifies who we think in our mind, this experience of mine is something of that kind, but the guy who reads it is good in astrology and is immensely talented in getting information from people without asking much! that is the trick!
My conclusion is this particular center in which I went are just astrologers who in the disguise of nadi readers mint money, because an astrologer cannot make more than 500 Rupees from a customer's one time visit, where as he can easily charge 500 rupees from a client, pulse he also claims that he will be able to read your past and specific areas in your life like your marriage life, profession, past life, relationship with your parents and for each reading they would charge 500 + they almost try to brain wash me by saying that if I pay rupees 10,000 rupees that would do some "pariharram" by which all the problems which I am facing be solved and my life will be rosy!!
Each and everyone with whom I discussed about Nadi Jothidam said they where all asked to go through the "pariharams" but there are people who admitted that the nadi jodidam is perfect and perfect and they had even exactly predicted the future and many incidents in the past which even they had not remembered.
With my personal experience I cannot right off "Nadi Jodhidam" as a whole but certainly my experience was bad and I felt cheated. I believe in astrology and would love to do a documentary on astrology and Nadi Jodiman. Will do it in the future.
